Roy Purcell sought himself in the desert, found himself there, and has never left. Over the years his passion for the desert Southwest deepened into a sensitive and mature relationaship with the earth and her first peoples.
Purcell’s more intimate works sometimes take the form of beautiful hand made “portfolios” each filled with original artworks, amulets, and trinkets all possessed of special significance and meaning. This book is but a taste of the wonders of Roy’s creative and mystical world.
He lives with his wife Beverly in Tubac, Arizona, home to his studio, art gallery, and a multitude of desert creatures who come to be painted on early morning visits.
